Director
Robin Hardy whips up a wild orgy of evangelical virgins and
promiscuous pagans in his latest offering 'The Wicker Tree:
Cowboys for Christ', a distinctly outrageous British romp,
mixing tongue-in-cheek camp with anarchic black humour.
Pop
singer Beth and her cowboy friend Steve, two virgins promised
to each other through 'the silver ring thing', set off from
Texas to enlighten the Scottish heathens in the way of Christ.
When,
after initial hostility, they are invited by the feudal laird
Lachlan Morrison and his wife to the village of Tressock,
they are greeted with joy and assume their hosts simply want
to hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are.
